In 2015, right after running my first Broad Street race (thanks to CoreFitness!!), I found out I was pregnant with my first baby. Throughout my pregnancy, I continued to go to Boot Camp, even when my belly got huge and I had to walk, not run, up the Art Museum steps.
It’s been a year and a half since I had my baby and I have a different view on health and fitness than I did before. My motivation is to stay fit, but also to be the best version of me that I can be for my family and to set a good example for my daughter. My body is different but I feel stronger. Exercise has helped me keep my energy up and I am noticeably happier, calmer, and engaged on the days that I prioritize exercise, whether it’s going to Boot Camp or just taking a long walk on Kelly Drive.
It was a huge help to be able to bring Quinn with me to Boot Camp when she was an infant and now that she is a rambunctious toddler, Boot Camp is time for myself when I can recharge. To me, my biggest success is that I haven’t stopped, as simple as it sounds. This could be the easiest time of my life to make excuses for why I don’t have time to exercise, but I haven’t done that – and that’s in large part due to my CoreFitness family and all of the support before, during, and after my pregnancy!” – Abby
